SMG, operators of the Albany Capital Center (ACC) and Times Union Center, is calling on community members and residents to join them this Earth Day to participate in an inaugural Bottle Drive and Community Cleanup. Volunteers will focus cleanup efforts in the areas around the ACC and Times Union Center between Eagle Street, State Street, Howard Street, Lodge Street and South Pearl Street.

Albany’s Department of General Services is donating tools and supplies such as gloves, trash bags, and lawn and leaf bags to help collect garbage. Guests are asked to bring refundable cans and plastic bottles for donation. All money raised from the collection will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. The first 100 people to donate recyclables will receive an Earth Day gift.

The ACC is an energy-efficient convention facility and features NYSERDA- qualified systems, sun shading, site-source recycling, low volume water fixtures, natural gas heat, low volatile organic compound (VOCs) finishes and LED lighting throughout all levels and more to reduce its carbon footprint on the environment.

All media are invited to attend.
