CAPITAL COMPLEX WALKWAY
The walkway connecting the Times Union Center, the Times Union Center Parking Garage, the Albany Capital Center, and the Empire State Plaza is currently closed for construction through Winter 2017.
Plans to upgrade the walkway include new floors, walls, and stairs, refurbishing escalators and elevators, improving security, and adding infrared heat.
In order to alleviate inconvenience, a committee was assembled to map alternate walking routes for visitors and residents during the renovation period.
Pedestrian access to destination at the Empire State Plaza will be Beaver, Lodge, Howard, Eagle, and Lancaster Streets to portions of the east staircase to the ESP Plaza, which will remain open. Access to/from Eagle, Lancaster, and Park Streets has been added from the Albany County Times Union Center Parking Facility via temporary crosswalks and a pathway along the Markte Street ramp.
